The Westside

I spend a lot of time on the Westside. I play there, sleep there, study there, shop there, eat there, socialize there, make cash there, and most importantly, I’m the proud owner of 3 Westside library cards. I quite enjoy the Westside. I do everything there except pay rent or utilities. (I refused to pay, and I roll with people who don’t hide their spare keys very well, not that a locked door would stop me—I’ve been picking locks since elementary school.)

Anyway, you’re listening to some of the songs on my Westside mix. These songs keep me bopping, or in some cases, steadily peddling Samantha (my sexy bicycle) along the Ballona Creek Bikeway. (Eww, I just had a flashback that involved bowls of ice cubes and the smell of wet cat food—that’s a whole other music mix.)

1. Bag of Hammers—Thao & The Get Down, Stay Down
2. Heart It Races—Dr. Dog
3. Paradise Knife Fights—Vampire Hands
4. West Coast—Coconut Records
5. Merryland—Hey Hey My My
6. To Be Surprised—Sondre Lerche
7. Rich Girls—The Virgins
8. Freckle Song—Chuck Prophet
9. Come On—The Panderers
